Foster® 40-80TM Disinfectant is EPA registered for use against Influenza A Virus.
Can be used in accordance with the United States Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) Interim Guidance for Infection Control of Influenza A H1N1 Virus in Home, Healthcare and School Settings
Foster® 40-80 Disinfectant is EPA registered and labeled for use on hard non-porous surfaces against influenza A viruses. According to the EPA website “EPA believes, based on available scientific information, that the currently registered influenza A virus products will be effective against the 2009-H1N1 flu strain and other influenza A virus strains on hard, non-porous surfaces.” This includes Foster® 40-80 Disinfectant.
Additionally, the CDC has published interim guidance for infection control of Influenza A H1N1 in home, healthcare and school settings. For healthcare settings, published on April 25, 2009, the CDC stated “cleaning and disinfection strategies used during influenza seasons can be applied to the environmental management of swine influenza.” Foster® 40-80 Disinfectant is an EPA registered disinfectant used in hospitals to destroy germs, bacteria and viruses on pre-cleaned environmental surfaces. It has also been used and is EPA registered to kill virulent influenzas including Influenza Type A/Brazil (Influenza) and the Avian Influenza Viruses (H3N2 and H5N1). Foster® 40-80 Disinfectant meets CDC’s latest interim guidelines for management of the swine influenza, released on April 25th.
For care of patients in home settings, the CDC recommends “keeping surfaces clean by wiping them down with a household disinfectant according to directions on the product label.”
For school settings, published May 1, 2009, Foster® 40-80 Disinfectant also meets CDC’s interim guidelines as stated: “When schools re-open, keep commonly touched surfaces such as stairway railings, elevator buttons and door handles clean by wiping them down with detergent-based cleaners or EPA registered disinfectants that are usually used in the school setting. These products should be used according to directions on the product label.”
Foster® representatives understand that the Swine Influenza A (H1N1) is a new virus strain that healthcare professionals have described as “evolving rapidly”. As new conclusions are drawn about this new strain, guidance may change at any given time so the CDC is updating its interim guidelines daily. As such, we recommend daily follow-up at the CDC website www.cdc.gov to obtain the best, most updated information possible.
